PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Robert Paulson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jens Jensen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paulson comes to the ring accompanied by Pantera - Cowboys from Hell. The key to victory for Robert Paulson has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 1, fighting out of London, Robert Paulson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 2, fighting out of London, Jens Jensen!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Colin Fotheringham and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paulson moves in looking to clinch but Jensen pushes him off.
Paulson lands a nice looking body shot.

Jensen looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Paulson tries to roll over but Jensen keeps him under control.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jensen connects with a nice short shot to Paulson's temple.

and Paulson counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Jensen thinking.

A close round but Jens Jensen will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Robert Paulson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
An inside leg kick lands from Jensen.
Jensen tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Paulson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Paulson displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Jensen throws out the jab.

and Paulson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Paulson ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Jensen throws a looping overhand right but Paulson ducks down to avoid it.

Paulson gets caught flat footed, as Jensen shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Paulson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Jensen is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Jensen is looking for a sweep. Paulson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Paulson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jensen for as long as he can get away with.

Jensen jumps guard but Paulson stands there with Jensen around his waist. Jensen gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Paulson wants to stand but Jensen has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jensen can do anything to dispel that myth.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jensen regains full guard. Nicely done.
Jensen manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Paulson manages to get himself to full guard.

Jensen stands up over Paulson, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Paulson's corner calls for a 1-2. Paulson obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Jensen takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Jensen walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Jensen closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Paulson is trying to get back to full guard.

Jensen is looking to advance position but Paulson won't allow it.
Jensen working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
