PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cassius Clay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and chrissy boy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clay fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Clay fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
boy defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Clay.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cassius Clay. That's going to take a lot out of him.
boy lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Clay circles away quickly and effectively.
A combination from boy does no damage.
Nice uppercut lands for boy. That snapped Clay's head back.

It looks like Cassius Clay has been cut.

Clay drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
boy is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Clay has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Clay with the ground and pound but boy regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Clay is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and boy reverses the position - he's now on top in Clay's guard.

boy wants to stand but Clay has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

boy decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Clay, up you get!

Clay is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in boy's half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Clay prevents boy from standing back up.

boy tries to kick Clay off but Clay keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Clay misses with a head shot. boy uses the momentum to regain guard.

Clay postures up in boy's guard and throws a big left but boy blocks it.
Clay looking to sit in guard and control but boy gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
boy would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Clay shoots in for a double leg but boy sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
boy thuds his right hand into Clay's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Cassius Clay seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Clay walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Clay is breathing heavily.

Clay closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming boy to the mat! boy manages to get full guard.

boy scrambles and gets back to his feet.

boy feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Clay sprawling to the canvas! Clay rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can boy finish him?!

Clay walks straight into a right hand from boy - that's dropped him! boy jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Clay from any more punishment! Clay complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
