Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bret Hatton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danny Angel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hatton comes to the cage accompanied by Bret Hart theme. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Bret Hatton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Danny Angel!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Dillan Fox and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Angel pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hatton will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Angel is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Danny Angel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Angel throws out a leg kick but Hatton moves out of range and Angel only half commits.

so Hatton counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Angel is trying to keep Hatton in close.
Angel manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hatton manages to get himself to full guard.

Hatton has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Angel can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Angel stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hatton swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Hatton manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Angel gets back to half guard.
Hatton working over Angel with some ground and pound. Angel looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Hatton is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Angel throws a push kick but Hatton slaps the foot to one side.

Hatton lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Angel circles away quickly and effectively.

Bret Hatton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Danny Angel.

and Hatton counters with a shoot takedown. Angel fights it but they end up in guard.
Angel wants to sweep here but Hatton controlling him for the moment.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Angel is on top in guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Angel drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Hatton manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Angel has Hatton in his guard.

Hatton passes Angel's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Hatton looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Angel with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Angel throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hatton's waist but Hatton gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Angel off to one side.

Angel shoots for a takedown but Hatton saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Angel closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Hatton did well to prevent Angel getting side control.

Angel has control of Hatton's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Hatton regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Angel drops an elbow to the side of Hatton's head.

Hatton is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Danny Angel showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Angel drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Angel jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Hatton escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Angel gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Nice takedown defense from Hatton. No joy for Angel on that attempt.

Hatton stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Angel swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Angel is pushing down on Hatton's leg trying to pass to half guard. Hatton is fighting to maintain full guard but Angel has managed to sneak the leg through.

Hatton is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Angel's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Angel's back!
Angel tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Hatton sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Hatton goes for an armbar but Angel turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Angel.

Well Hatton has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
