The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pilaf gets caught flat footed, as Mcgiven shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Mcgiven has gone for a leg lock! Pilaf slips out almost immediately though and dives into Mcgiven's guard.
Mcgiven has a closed guard, preventing Pilaf from standing up.

Pilaf stands up and waves to Mcgiven to follow him.
Pilaf misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Pilaf defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mcgiven.

Pilaf displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mcgiven.
Rice Pilaf has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roger Mcgiven.
Pilaf slaps away a takedown attempt from Mcgiven, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Pilaf cracks Mcgiven with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Mcgiven drops back, looking for a kneebar! Pilaf looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Pilaf looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Pilaf!

Pilaf decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Mcgiven looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Pilaf is fending him off so far but Mcgiven persists. Nope, Pilaf circles away and we're back to standing.
Mcgiven tries to score a power double leg takedown but Pilaf sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mcgiven somewhat.
Pilaf's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Pilaf duly obliges.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pilaf throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Mcgiven stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Rice Pilaf is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Pilaf darts in and clinches Mcgiven up against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pilaf stalls.
Mcgiven's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Pilaf lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Mcgiven backwards.
Pilaf content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Pilaf lands a hook that snaps the head of Mcgiven backwards.
Mcgiven tries to pull guard but Pilaf holds him up against the cage and eventually Mcgiven drops back down to his feet.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Pilaf.

Pilaf's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Pilaf dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Pilaf clobbers Mcgiven with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Pilaf jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Pilaf lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Mcgiven backs up against the cage.
Pilaf connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Mcgiven momentarily.

Jab, jab by Pilaf - just one landing.
Mcgiven has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Mcgiven there as he acknowledges the shot.

Mcgiven gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Pilaf.
Pilaf throws a good cross that connects.
Mcgiven tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Pilaf holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Pilaf escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Mcgiven shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Pilaf counters with a body kick.
Pilaf uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Pilaf clinches up with Mcgiven and pushes him back against the cage.

Pilaf breaks the clinch.
Mcgiven closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Pilaf closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Pilaf, as that shot connected.
Pilaf cracks Mcgiven with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Pilaf!

Mcgiven is rocked!

Pilaf clinches.
Mcgiven is still on wobbly legs! Can Pilaf finish him?

Pilaf breaks from the clinch.
Pilaf scores with a jab. Mcgiven acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Pilaf lands a jab to the head.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Pilaf delivers a nice body kick.
Mcgiven seems to have recovered his senses.
Pilaf lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Pilaf lands with a right that hurts Mcgiven. Mcgiven looks to clinch but Pilaf throws a short knee that drops Mcgiven. This one is all over!
