The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aldo lunges at Marshall with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Marshall's hand.

Aldo takes the fight into the clinch.

Aldo breaks from the clinch.
Marshall throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Aldo connects with a nice looking jab.
Aldo wants to clinch.

Marshall shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Aldo's guard.

Aldo is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Marshall is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Marshall gets to his feet - Aldo follows without any prompting.

Aldo has closed the distance and engaged Marshall in a clinch.

Aldo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Aldo throws a nice looking combination but Marshall bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Aldo goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Marshall needs to keep his hands up - Aldo had a free shot at his head there.
Marshall dives in and grabs Aldo's left leg, looking for a takedown. Aldo pushes down on Marshall's head and hops out.

Aldo circles away from the clinch attempt.
Marshall changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Aldo tries to avoid it but Marshall manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Aldo to the ground. Aldo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Marshall shoots in and bounces Aldo off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Aldo is breathing heavily.
Aldo wants to stand but Marshall is controlling the position.
Aldo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Marshall on the ground.

Marshall gets to his feet - Aldo follows without any prompting.
Marshall throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Aldo's waist but Aldo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Marshall off to one side.
Jose Aldo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lee Marshall.

Marshall gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Aldo tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Marshall smiles and moves away.

Aldo gets caught flat footed, as Marshall shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Aldo wants to get back to his feet but Marshall is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Marshall decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Aldo, up you get!

Marshall shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Aldo is trying to defend but Marshall finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Marshall seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Aldo is trying to escape back to his feet but Marshall uses the scramble to pass into side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Marshall takes a little break here. Aldo wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
