Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Hardy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and JJ Goodis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hardy's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Ali in the Jungle. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Hardy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, JJ Goodis!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Tiny Johnson and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hardy looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Hardy is looking to take a break and control but Goodis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Goodis is defending against the submission attempts here by Hardy.

Hardy is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Goodis defends it well.
Goodis looks like he's trying to stand up.
Hardy really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Hardy is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Hardy wants to pass the guard but Goodis is defending well.

Hardy is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Goodis doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hardy.
Goodis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hardy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hardy is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Goodis sees it coming and defends easily.
Hardy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Goodis keeps working.

Hardy has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hardy is defended easily by Goodis.

Hardy shoots in looking for a takedown. Goodis tries to sprawl out of it but Hardy keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Goodis manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Hardy. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Goodis tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Goodis closes the distance and pushes Hardy back into the cage.
Hardy is working for takedown but Goodis is calmly controlling the position for now.
Goodis landing some nice looking knees to the body.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Goodis just misses with a elbow thrown towards Hardy's brow.

Goodis pushes off an throws an elbow but Hardy leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Hardy drops down looking for an ankle pick but Goodis pulls his leg out and moves away.

Goodis lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Hardy or not.

Goodis fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Hardy avoids a wild elbow strike from Goodis.

Goodis jumps into guard, dragging Hardy to the mat.

Hardy content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Goodis wants to sweep here but Hardy controlling him for the moment.

Goodis has control of Hardy's left arm, preventing Hardy from doing any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Goodis rushes Hardy and presses him up against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but JJ Goodis will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Goodis lands a body shot.
Hardy has a takedown stuffed.
Hardy will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Goodis throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Goodis swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Goodis tries to clinch up.
Some wild striking there from Goodis.

Hardy shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Hardy looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Hardy unloads with some shots from mount but Goodis bucks and avoids them well.

Goodis wants to hold on but Hardy pushes him away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Hardy is working for a guillotine from mount but Goodis frees his head quite easily.
Goodis is in all sorts of trouble here.
Goodis sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Hardy seems to be looking for submissions.

Hardy is pressing down on Goodis's thigh, looking to free his foot. Goodis is holding on for now.
Hardy is looking to take a break and control but Goodis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Goodis is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hardy's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hardy's back!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Goodis wants to control from the top but Hardy keeps moving.
Hardy looking to hit a scissor sweep but Goodis is one step ahead there.
Hardy on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hardy tries to get out of the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Goodis doesn't manage to clinch there - Hardy circles away.

That was a close second round but I would say that John Hardy will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Goodis has managed to clinch.
Goodis creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Hardy can't get the takedown.
Goodis lands a nice knee to the body.
Hardy drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Goodis bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hardy's guard.
Hardy wants to sweep but no luck.
Hardy wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Goodis is now in half guard.
Goodis performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Goodis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hardy keeps working.

Hardy is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Goodis pulls his head out easily.
Hardy wants to improve his position but Goodis is controlling well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

No joy there for Goodis, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Hardy will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

I would just about give that final round to JJ Goodis.
I think Goodis has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
