Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kris Soomers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Zodiac (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Soomers circles away from the clinch attempt.
Zodiac tries to clinch up.
Zodiac wants to clinch up but Soomers keeps it at a distance.
Soomers showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Zodiac.

Zodiac throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Soomers decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Zodiac really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Soomers. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Soomers feints and as Zodiac raises his hands in defense, Soomers changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Soomers slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Soomers throws a strike but Zodiac avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Soomers drops back, looking for a kneebar! Zodiac looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Zodiac looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Zodiac!
Soomers tries to bench press Zodiac off him but Zodiac keeps the position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Soomers manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Soomers wants to pass the guard but Zodiac is defending well.

Zodiac tries to close the distance and clinch up but Soomers swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Soomers has an Americana. Zodiac didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Soomers is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Soomers hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
