The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phelps looks for the body kick but Payne saw that one coming.

Phelps tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Phelps looking to throw knees to the head but Payne is blocking nicely.
Payne tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Phelps just stands there and leans against the cage.

Payne jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Phelps walks away with a smile on his face. Payne gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Payne counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Phelps is lucky that one didn't land flush.

With the fighters up against the cage, Phelps throws an elbow but misses.
Phelps lands an elbow inside that Payne shrugs off.
Payne tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Phelps smiles and moves away.
Payne tries to close the distance and clinch up but Phelps swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Payne has closed the distance and engaged Phelps in a clinch.
Phelps looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Phelps with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Payne tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Payne tries to pull guard but Phelps holds him up against the cage and eventually Payne drops back down to his feet.

Payne creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Phelps's defenses.

It looks like Crayton Phelps has been cut.

Payne jumps guard and drags Phelps to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Payne is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Phelps wants to get up but he can't break Payne's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Payne has his feet on Phelps's thighs here. He's pushed Phelps off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Phelps screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
