PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Hales Tigris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Colbey Lynch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Colbey Lynch told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hales Tigris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Colbey Lynch!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lynch throws a head kick that misses.
Lynch feints and then cracks Tigris's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Tigris down.
Lynch delivers a nice body kick.
Lynch thumps Tigris with a low kick.
Tigris shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Lynch but Lynch pushes him off and we're back to square one.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Tigris.
Lynch throws a head kick that half lands.
Tigris tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Lynch cracks the inside of Tigris's front leg.

Tigris closes the distance and pushes Lynch back into the cage.

Lynch breaks the clinch.

Tigris shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Lynch napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Lynch manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Lynch tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Tigris.
Lynch is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Tigris looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Tigris throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Lynch wants to get up but he can't break Tigris's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tigris looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Tigris has a closed guard, preventing Lynch from standing up.

Lynch gets to his feet - Tigris follows without any prompting.
Lynch lands a head kick!
Tigris takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Tigris takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Lynch throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Tigris feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Lynch has his foot on Tigris's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Tigris works his way back into a safe position though.

Tigris drops back looking for a leg! Lynch is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lynch manages to kick Tigris off! Tigris jumps back into Lynch's guard.
Tigris stands and throws Lynch's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Lynch wants to control but Tigris postures up.
Tigris advances nicely into full mount.
Lynch tries to hold on but Tigris postures up.
Tigris lands a big shot there that rocks Lynch but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Tigris pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Lynch wants to control but Tigris is having none of it.

Tigris can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Lynch is looking to escape.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Lynch tries to reverse the position but Tigris maintains control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hales Tigris dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Tigris shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Lynch's guard.
Lynch is trying to control the position but Tigris postures up.

Lynch is looking for a triangle but Tigris pushes his legs off easily.
Tigris lands a couple of elbows.
Tigris trying to control the position from guard on top but Lynch is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Lynch wants to get back to full guard.
Tigris tries to pass to full mount but Lynch defends it.
Tigris has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Tigris working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Lynch throws a sloppy head kick and Tigris moves out of range easily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Tigris on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Lynch lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Tigris takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Lynch fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Tigris checks it well.
A nice inside leg kick there by Lynch. That's going to slow Tigris down.
Colbey Lynch seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tigris stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Lynch.
Tigris throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Lynch's waist but Lynch gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Tigris off to one side.
Tigris shoots in for a takedown but Lynch shows good takedown defense.
Lynch attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

Lynch stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lynch wants it to stay on the feet.

enabling Lynch to counter with a crisp jab.
Lynch throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Lynch. Tigris shrugs it off though.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Lynch moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Lynch lands a nice leg kick that just misses Tigris's sensitive parts.

Tigris drives through with a takedown into guard.

Tigris got a little sloppy there for a moment and Lynch has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Tigris has managed to get both his arms back between Lynch's legs - danger averted.

Colbey Lynch showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Lynch throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

and Lynch counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Lynch throws a leg kick but Tigris sees it coming and moves out of range.
Tigris tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Lynch paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Lynch throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Lynch slaps away a takedown attempt from Tigris, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Lynch scores with a leg kick.
Lynch misses with a jab, cross combination.

Tigris moves into range and clinches up with Lynch.
Tigris is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Lynch lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Tigris or not.
Tigris is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Lynch is keeping busy.

Lynch manages to break the clinch.

Tigris throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Lynch was covering up waiting for the punch and Tigris finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Lynch not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Lynch pulls Tigris in close to his closed guard and prevents Tigris from doing any damage or advancing position.

Tigris prevents Lynch from getting the reversal.

It looks like Colbey Lynch has been cut.
Tigris sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Lynch is in all sorts of trouble here.

And that's the end of the fight!
Hales Tigris showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Tigris has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
