The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Akahi.
Akahi will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Smith fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Smith scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Smith is trying to get an arm triangle but Akahi is defending well.

Smith is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Akahi is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Akahi is pushing Smith's head away, looking to escape. Smith manages to hold on to the position though.

Smith working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Smith tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Smith is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Akahi is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Smith tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Akahi is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the ropes but Smith has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Smith tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Smith has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Akahi knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smith on the ground.

Smith tries for a kimura but Akahi is defending well.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Smith looks gassed!

Smith tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Smith has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Akahi wants to get back to his feet but Smith drags him back down.

Smith wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Akahi, who protects the arm well.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Smith has an Americana. Akahi didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Smith is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Smith hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
