PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Bird (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gregor Pawlak Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bird kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Wasted - Gucci Mane. Pawlak Jr has chosen Pitbull Song as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gregor Pawlak Jr!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Frank Dennis and Robert Twigg.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bird feints and as Pawlak Jr raises his hands in defense, Bird changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Bird trying to control the position from guard on top but Pawlak Jr is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Bird controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Bird is looking to stand up but Pawlak Jr won't let him.

Bird lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Pawlak Jr has his foot on Bird's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bird works his way back into a safe position though.

Bird is in close to Pawlak Jr's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Pawlak Jr working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Bird.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bird accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Bird distracts Pawlak Jr with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bird is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Pawlak Jr looking for a guillotine here but Bird defends easily.

Bird is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Bird with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Bird stands and steps away. Pawlak Jr gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Bird moves into the clinch successfully.

Bird jumps guard and drags Pawlak Jr to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Bird is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Pawlak Jr frees his head nicely. Oh but Bird has switched to an armbar! Pawlak Jr is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
