Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mahdi Makungu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Makungu has chosen Nelly - Heart of a Champion as his entrance music. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mahdi Makungu!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Summer Carpenter and Winston Howard.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Johnson shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Makungu napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Makungu is looking for a sweep.

Johnson swings around for an armbar but Makungu sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Johnson's guard.

Makungu looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Makungu seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Johnson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Johnson shoots for a takedown but Makungu saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Makungu swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A combination from Makungu does no damage.

Makungu throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Johnson was covering up waiting for the punch and Makungu finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Johnson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Makungu swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Makungu looks to score with a jab to the body but Johnson is just out of range.
Makungu connects with a good right hand that stumbles Johnson. Johnson circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Makungu shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Makungu was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Makungu is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Johnson is surviving well by controlling Makungu's body position as best he can.

Makungu has control of Johnson's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Johnson regains control of the situation pretty easily.
