The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Merlin closes this distance looking for a takedown but Manny circles away.

Merlin has closed the distance and engaged Manny in a clinch.
Manny is trying to break free.

Manny breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Manny Manny seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Manny throws a body punch but Merlin moves out of range.

Manny's corner calls for a 1-2. Manny obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

It looks like Injun Merlin has been cut.

so Merlin counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Manny is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Merlin is controlling him.

Manny wants to stand but Merlin is controlling the position.
Manny is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Manny knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Merlin on the ground.

Merlin makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Manny keeping moving, preventing Merlin from controlling successfully.

Merlin drops back looking for a leg! Manny is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Manny manages to kick Merlin off! Merlin jumps back into Manny's guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Manny looks to land a combination but Merlin avoids it well.
A jab lands there for Manny.
Manny misses with a double jab.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Manny will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Manny lands a nice hook to Merlin's body. Merlin takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Manny rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Merlin moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Merlin lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Manny circles away quickly and effectively.

Manny looks to land a combination but Merlin avoids it well.

and Merlin counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Manny!
Manny is trying to stand up.

Merlin is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Manny is surviving well by controlling Merlin's body position as best he can.
Manny on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Manny tries to get out of the position.
Manny tries to hold on but Merlin postures up.

Manny somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet!
Manny throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

and Merlin counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Merlin.
Manny is pushing Merlin up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Manny is pressed up against the cage. Merlin has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Manny down to the mat. Manny avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Manny throws a series of strikes that have Merlin backpedaling.
Merlin avoids a punch combination nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Manny swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Merlin counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Manny lands a jab to Merlin's midsection.

Merlin moves out of range of the body kick from Manny.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Manny Manny will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Injun Merlin's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Manny scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Merlin shoots for a double leg takedown but Manny sprawls well. He's pushed Merlin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Left hook, right uppercut from Manny.
Manny cracks Merlin on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Merlin falls backwards against the cage. Manny follows up with more strikes that drop Merlin to his knees. Manny keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Merlin! This one is all over!
