Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rodrigo Correira (ranked 4076 p4p, 3970 weight class) and Jayvon Cortez (ranked 392 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rodrigo Correira! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jayvon Cortez! The judges for this bout are Josh West, Chris Saunders and Colin Fray.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Correira looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Correira throwing strikes but missing. Correira missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Cortez has his foot on Correira's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Correira works his way back into a safe position though.
Correira is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Correira throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cortez can do anything to dispel that myth. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Correira is looking to work some ground and pound but Cortez has wrist control. Cortez is adopting a defensive guard.

 That's one minute gone in the round. Correira wants to stand but Cortez has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Cortez keeping moving, preventing Correira from controlling successfully.
 The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Cortez closes the distance and clinches. Cortez prevents the takedown attempt.
Correira throws an elbow but it misses.
Correira is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Cortez to keep the fight standing.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Correira working aggressively here.
Cortez gets underhooks to prevent Correira's takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rodrigo Correira. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cortez breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. A combination from Correira does no damage. Cortez throws a sloppy head kick and Correira moves out of range easily. Cortez avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Correira feints and as Cortez raises his hands in defense, Correira changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Correira sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Correira drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Cortez manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Correira has Cortez in his guard.

 That's three minutes gone in the round. Cortez is stalling in the full guard. Correira is trying to control the position but Cortez postures up.
Correira looking for a triangle here. Cortez is fighting it but it looks tight! Correira pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Cortez is tapping out - this one is all over!
