Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rudy Beckwith (ranked 1631 p4p, 3150 weight class) and Tyres Widforss (ranked 160 p4p, 279 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 19 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rudy Beckwith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 20 - 28 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tyres Widforss! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Gwen Towbar.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beckwith drives through with a takedown into guard. Beckwith trying to control but Widforss is working from the bottom.
Widforss throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Beckwith escapes and throws Widforss's legs to the side, diving into side control! Beckwith trying to control the action but Widforss is working from the bottom. Beckwith advances nicely into full mount. Beckwith fails to take his opponent's back. Widforss is looking to improve his position but Beckwith isn't that keen on the idea. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Beckwith controlling the pace for now. Beckwith wants to control the pace but Widforss is squirming around nicely.

Widforss is still trying to improve position. Beckwith wants to take his opponent's back but Widforss doesn't allow it. Widforss felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Beckwith can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Widforss is looking to escape. Widforss stops Beckwith from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better. Widforss is trying to escape the mount.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Beckwith trying to control but Widforss is having none of it. Widforss gets back to half guard. Widforss tries to get to full guard but Beckwith has control of the leg. Beckwith performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Beckwith is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Widforss doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Beckwith. Widforss gets full guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Widforss wants to control but Beckwith is keeping busy and won't allow it. Widforss is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Beckwith's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Beckwith's back! And that is the end of the round. Beckwith drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Beckwith jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Widforss is trying to keep Beckwith in close.

 That's one minute gone in the round. Widforss is trying to hold Beckwith in close to prevent damage but Beckwith has managed to pass into half guard.
Beckwith perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Beckwith is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Widforss can do to turn this around? Widforss is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Beckwith is pressing down on Widforss's thigh, looking to free his foot. Widforss is holding on for now. Widforss is trying to control but can't.

 That's three minutes gone in the round. Widforss is staying active underneath Beckwith, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Beckwith is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Widforss regains half guard. Widforss regains full guard. Nicely done. Widforss looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Beckwith not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Beckwith tries to free his leg and advance position but Widforss is retaining full guard. Beckwith slips nicely into half guard.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Widforss wants to get back to full guard but Beckwith has passed into side control.
Beckwith tries for a kimura but Widforss is defending well. Beckwith wants to lay and pray for a moment but Widforss keeps working.
Beckwith goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Widforss has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Beckwith but great work by Widforss. Beckwith can't do much from the bottom here. Widforss working the ground and pound but Beckwith is defending the strikes. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Widforss has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Beckwith! Widforss lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

 That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Beckwith pulls Widforss in to control the position.
Widforss drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Beckwith manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Widforss has Beckwith in his guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Beckwith trying to control the position from guard on top but Widforss is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
