Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Esai Maeda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bruce Lee has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bruce Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Esai Maeda!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee tries to close the distance and clinch but Maeda swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Maeda leaves Lee with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Maeda gets a takedown into half guard.

Lee actively working from the bottom here.
Lee tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Maeda has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Lee working to try and regain half guard.
Lee avoids a series of strikes thrown by Maeda.
Lee tries to lock up and control but Maeda gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Maeda looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Maeda has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Maeda looking for a guillotine from mount but Lee is having none of it.

Lee is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Maeda controlling his opponent.
Let's hope that Maeda has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Lee is wriggling around trying to escape.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Lee manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Lee is trying to maintain the position but Maeda is very close to passing his half guard.
Lee is looking to improve his position.
Maeda is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Lee bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Maeda controls Lee momentarily but Lee frees himself.

Maeda is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Maeda is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Maeda looks gassed!

Maeda looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lee is one step ahead there.
Maeda controls Lee momentarily but Lee frees himself.

Maeda is looking for a triangle but Lee pushes his legs off easily.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Maeda looking to control.

Maeda has his foot on Lee's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lee works his way back into a safe position though.
Lee is looking to stand up but Maeda won't let him.
Maeda preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Lee misses with a takedown attempt

and Maeda counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Lee wants to stall.
Lee wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Lee is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Maeda manages to pull guard.
Lee trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Lee loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Lee stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Maeda swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Esai Maeda dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Lee misses with a looping left.
Lee lunges at Maeda with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Maeda's hand.

Maeda scores with a takedown into Lee's guard.
Maeda stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lee swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Lee manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Maeda manages to get himself to full guard.

Maeda is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Maeda had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Lee is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Maeda Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Lee's back instead.

Lee tries to break free.
Lee is keeping busy.
Lee turns into Maeda and is now in his guard.
Maeda is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Maeda wants to sweep here but Lee controlling him for the moment.
Lee postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Lee thows a big elbow that misses.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Lee lands with a hook. Maeda tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Lee throws a looping overhand right but Maeda ducks down to avoid it.
Lee misses with a hook.
Lee throws a sloppy head kick and Maeda moves out of range easily.

Maeda looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Lee!
Lee wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Maeda wants to control but Lee is keeping busy.
Lee breaks Maeda's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Maeda looking for a sweep. Not yet Maeda, not yet.

Lee drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Maeda manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Lee has Maeda in his guard.

Maeda advances position into side control!
A lull in the action here.
You can see the frustration on Lee's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Lee tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Maeda advances to mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Lee is in all sorts of trouble here.
A nice elbow there by Maeda.
Maeda breaks from Lee's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Lee tries to lock up and control but Maeda gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Esai Maeda showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Bruce Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lee throws a hook to the side of Maeda's head but Maeda sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Lee throws a jab but it's blocked by Maeda.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Maeda is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Lee has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Lee in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Maeda wants to sweep here but Lee controlling him for the moment.

Lee wants to control from the top but Maeda keeps moving.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Lee distracts Maeda with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Maeda bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lee's guard.
Maeda wants to pass the guard but Lee is keeping the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Lee throws a looping overhand right but Maeda ducks down to avoid it.

Maeda shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Lee's guard.
Lee wants to get back to his feet but Maeda passes into half guard.
Lee is trying to get back to full guard.

Esai Maeda comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Maeda winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
