PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Daniyar Nurbolatov (ranked 3666 p4p, 2698 weight class) and Norman Boma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Boma is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Drowning Pool - Bodies. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Daniyar Nurbolatov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 25 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, Norman Boma!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Dean Styles and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nurbolatov tries to score a power double leg takedown but Boma sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Nurbolatov somewhat.
The crowd cheers as Boma lands an impressive looking overhand right. Nurbolatov doesn't seem phased though.
Nurbolatov shoots in but no luck this time.
Nurbolatov throws a right and a left that both miss.
Nurbolatov misses with a takedown attempt - Boma sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daniyar Nurbolatov. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Boma takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Boma has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Boma has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

and Boma connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nurbolatov goes for a double leg but Boma avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Boma continues to drive forward.

Boma is fighting off a takedown attempt but Nurbolatov is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Boma to the mat. Boma regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Boma controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Let's hope that Boma has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Boma.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Boma is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Boma is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Nurbolatov shoots in for a takedown but Boma shows good takedown defense.
Boma is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Nurbolatov with a body shot.

Daniyar Nurbolatov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nurbolatov takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Nurbolatov is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Boma is just riding it out for now. Nurbolatov eventually gives up the hold.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Boma is trying to control but can't.

Nurbolatov swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Boma is now in Nurbolatov's guard. A big mistake from Nurbolatov there, giving up the dominant position!

Nurbolatov might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Boma is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Norman Boma showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Boma fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Nurbolatov looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Nurbolatov changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Boma looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Boma is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Boma wants to improve his position but Nurbolatov is controlling well.
Daniyar Nurbolatov overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Boma preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Boma wants to control but Nurbolatov is keeping busy and won't allow it.

I've got Boma winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
