This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the light heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 10 wins and 8 losses; Steve Fish! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Hilo, with a TWGC record of 11 wins and 12 losses; Luke Penn! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Emerson Jorge and Matheus Silva.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Penn shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Fish is trying to defend but Penn finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Penn is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Fish is just riding it out for now. Penn eventually gives up the hold.

 That's five minutes gone in the round. Penn is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Penn has Fish pulled in close to control his posture. Penn tries to land a sweep but no joy. Penn wants to hit a sweep here but Fish passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Penn there!  That's six minutes gone in the round. Fish prevents Penn from getting the reversal. Penn sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Penn wants to get back to full guard. Fish tries to pass the half guard into mount. Penn knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Penn is positioning himself well to prevent Fish advancing to mount. Fish slows the pace down in half guard.
 That's seven minutes gone in the round. Penn preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Fish will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Penn tries to get to full guard but Fish has control of the leg. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Penn controlling the position for now. Fish takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Penn tries to get to full guard but Fish has control of the leg. Penn is staying active underneath Fish, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
 That's nine minutes gone in the round. Penn is positioning himself well to prevent Fish advancing to mount. Fish is pressing down on Penn's thigh, looking to free his foot. Penn is holding on for now. Penn is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Fish uses his free foot to push down on Penn's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Penn. Score +3 for passing guard: Fish (8) vs (5) Penn Penn tries to hold on but Fish pushes him away.
 That's ten minutes gone in the round. Penn is looking to improve his position but Fish isn't that keen on the idea. Fish content just to control the position here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Penn tries to lock up and control but Fish gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Penn tries to reverse the position but Fish maintains control. Penn tries to hold on but Fish postures up. Penn controls the position. Fish can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Penn is looking to escape.
 That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Penn wants to hold on but Fish pushes him away. Penn tries to control Fish's body but Fish pushes him off. Penn squirms to his side and now Fish has his back! Score +3 for taking back: Fish (11) vs (5) Penn Fish is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish. Penn just trying to survive but Fish is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
 That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Fish really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Penn. Penn tries to break free.
What can Penn do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Fish is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Penn has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Penn is trying to control his opponent's hands. Eventually Fish gets his hands free and sinks in a rear naked choke. For a while it looks like Penn is going to survive but after struggling valiantly, he eventually has to tap out! Fish is your winner!
