Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Seu Braga and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oliveira scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Oliveira is staying tight to Mercer's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Oliveira lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Mercer is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
A lull in the action here as Oliveira stalls from top position.
Oliveira has knee on belly and moves into mount.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Oliveira takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Mercer is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Oliveira jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle�. Ooooh, that looks tight� Mercer is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Mercer and Oliveira has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Oliveira seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Mercer for as long as he can get away with.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Oliveira closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Mercer did well to prevent Oliveira getting side control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mercer is in trouble now - Oliveira has advanced to mount!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Oliveira's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Oliveira takes Mercer's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Mercer is in trouble.
