Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ji Hwan Bae! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nate Poirier! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Russell Pearce and Dean Styles.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Poirier swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Bae counters with a three punch combo that has Poirier backing up. Poirier nods at Bae to acknowledge the strikes. Bae shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Poirier fails to land with a series of punches.

and Bae counters with a leg kick. Poirier looks to land a combination but Bae avoids it well. Bae went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Poirier throws a right and a left that both miss. Poirier misses with a wild combination.
A right-left combo lands from Poirier. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Some wild striking there from Poirier.
Bae is looking to counter the offense by Poirier and move into the clinch. Poirier misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Bae closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Poirier quickly recovers to half guard.

Bae has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Bae trying to control the position.
Poirier must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Bae managing to control the position. Poirier wants to stand but Bae has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Bae not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
Poirier stands up and waves to Bae to follow him. Poirier scores with a decent looking hook. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Poirier throws a nice looking combination but Bae bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. A counter left hand to the body from Bae misses its target.
Poirier gets caught flat footed, as Bae shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Nate Poirier dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Poirier throws a combination that misses and Bae makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Poirier misses with a few strikes there.

Bae is looking to wear down Poirier with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Poirier throws a series of punches but Bae avoids them all with ease. Poirier has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Bae is on him like a limpet, forcing Poirier back against the cage.

Bae thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Bae really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Poirier keeping moving, preventing Bae from controlling successfully. Poirier is looking to stand up but Bae isn't so interested in that idea. Bae sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Poirier's guard. Poirier really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bae. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
