In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 5 wins and 8 losses; Kazuma Kiryu! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 4 losses; Michael Aalto! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Gwen Towbar and Frank Dennis.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Kiryu closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Aalto's guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Kiryu (2) vs (0) Aalto Aalto is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Aalto is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Kiryu looking to pass the guard. Aalto looking for a sweep. Not yet Aalto, not yet. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Aalto is on top in guard.

Kiryu had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Aalto defends it easily. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kiryu looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

 That's one minute gone in the round. Aalto wants to control from the top but Kiryu keeps moving.
Kiryu has his foot on Aalto's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Aalto works his way back into a safe position though.
Kiryu is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Aalto defends well. Aalto must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Aalto got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kiryu has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Aalto has managed to get both his arms back between Kiryu's legs - danger averted.

Kiryu has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Aalto can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Aalto tries to free his leg and advance position but Kiryu is retaining full guard.
Kiryu looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Aalto is defending well. Kiryu quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Aalto has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Kiryu celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
