Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Grappling Panda (ranked 2226 p4p, 5076 weight class) and John Johns (ranked 185 p4p, 341 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Grappling Panda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Johns!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Valeri Chadov and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Panda moves out of range of the strikes.
As Johns tries to get set, Panda tries to push him back and clinch up but Johns manages to avoid the attempt.
Johns lands a nice looking body shot.
Johns jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Johns swings widly with a right hand

and Panda holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Panda pulls guard effortlessly.
Johns is looking to advance position but Panda has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

We've been hearing good reports from Panda's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Panda seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Johns is holding on tight.
Johns is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Panda takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

I really don't envy Johns right now.

Panda is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Johns knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Johns for a finish.

Panda just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Panda seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Johns for as long as he can get away with.
You can see the frustration on Johns's face� He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Panda gets his hands free as Johns looks to control.
Panda is hanging on to Johns's back as he tries to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Johns looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Panda wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Johns is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Panda.
Panda is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Johns.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Johns tries to get to full guard but Panda has control of the leg.
Panda slows the pace down in half guard.
Johns is trying to control but can't.
Johns tries to roll over but Panda keeps him under control.
Panda content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Johns fails to land with a series of punches.

Panda gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Johns has had enough of the clinch but Panda keeps him there for the moment.

Johns looking to sit in guard and control but Panda gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Johns is trying to control the position but Panda postures up.
Johns can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Panda controls the pace.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Panda takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Johns wants to control from the top but Panda keeps moving.
Johns works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Johns throws a strike but Panda avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Panda seems keen to control Johns's posture.
Panda has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Johns is trying to force a seperation but Panda has the dominant position.

Panda seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Johns tries to roll over but Panda keeps him under control.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Panda, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
