And in the blue corner, fighting out of St Petersburg, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 14 losses; Alistair Ubereem! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Dean Styles and Steve Montenegro.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.
Ubereem clinches with his opponent.
Ubereem pulls guard. Ubereem controls Shimada momentarily but Shimada frees himself. Shimada might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Ubereem keeping moving, preventing Shimada from controlling successfully.

Shimada definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Ubereem wants to improve his position but Shimada is controlling well.

Shimada is trying to control. Ubereem wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Shimada is figuring out what he wants to do next. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ubereem wants to improve his position but Shimada is controlling well.

Ubereem escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Shimada gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Ubereem tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Ubereem throws his legs up looking for a submission but Shimada uses it to pass to side control.

Shimada is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Ubereem has escaped the position, nice work there. The referee asks Shimada politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Shimada prefers to stall for the moment though.

Shimada is working to tighten his grip on Ubereem's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Ubereem has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Shimada is really squeezing tight and eventually Ubereem passes out! Shimada breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
