The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yukihiro Shimada and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendoza Rivera decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lowry is trying to escape back to his feet but Mendoza Rivera uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Mendoza Rivera is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Lowry is just riding it out for now. Mendoza Rivera eventually gives up the hold.

Mendoza Rivera winds up and cracks Lowry with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Lowry kicks Mendoza Rivera off and gets back to his feet.
