Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Deanthony Pederson (ranked 307 p4p, 1745 weight class) and Sepi Koli (ranked 38 p4p, 199 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 22 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Deanthony Pederson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sepi Koli! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Dillan Fox and Robert Douchet.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Koli takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Good standup being displayed there by Pederson as he connects with a hook. Pederson swings for the body but Koli moves out of range.
Nice takedown defense from Koli. No joy for Pederson on that attempt. Koli appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Nice cross by Pederson. Pederson needs to keep his hands up - Koli had a free shot at his head there. Pederson lands a head shot. Pederson swings and misses with a hook to the body.
We've been hearing reports that Pederson has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Koli moves away from the strike by Pederson. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Koli throws a push kick but Pederson slaps the foot to one side. Pederson bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Koli's head backwards. Koli pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Koli takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Koli slips a straight right by Pederson. Koli throws a counter combo. Koli uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pederson.
Koli blocks a jab. Pederson jabs Koli right on the nose. Koli blinks but takes it well. Koli cracks Pederson with a good jab. Pederson tests Koli's chin there with a solid looking shot. Koli throws an overhand right that lands on Pederson's shoulder, as Pederson tries to avoid the shot. Pederson tries for a takedown but Koli circles away easily and Koli counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters. Pederson takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Koli fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Pederson manages to avoid it.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Koli displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Pederson throws out the jab. The fighters circling - Pederson throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Pederson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Pederson advances to full mount. Pederson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Koli is looking to escape. Koli is desperately trying to improve his position but Pederson has a good base and remains in mount.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Koli holds on, trying desperately to control. Pederson trying to control but Koli is having none of it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pederson has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Koli's face.
Pederson misses with a head shot. Koli holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Pederson tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Pederson throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Pederson goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Koli is on top in guard.

Koli got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pederson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Koli has managed to get both his arms back between Pederson's legs - danger averted. Pederson lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

 That's five minutes gone in the round. Pederson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Pederson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Koli working a defensive guard here.

Pederson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Pederson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
 That's six minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Koli keeping moving, preventing Pederson from controlling successfully. Koli not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Pederson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Pederson works over Koli with some ground and pound from guard.
 That's seven minutes gone in the round. Pederson controls from within his opponent's guard. Pederson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Pederson's corner is telling him to maintain position.
 The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Pederson connects with a body shot. Koli misses the jab. Pederson throws a body punch but Koli moves out of range. Koli is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Pederson with a body shot. Pederson looks to score with a jab to the body but Koli is just out of range. Koli now looks to counter with a shot at the body. Koli wants to land a leg kick but Pederson is out of range. A jab from Koli misses.
 That's eight minutes gone in the round. Koli misses with a hook. Koli jabbing away but nothing is landing. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Pederson is defended easily by Koli. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Deanthony Pederson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Koli tries to close the distance and clinch but Pederson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Koli lands with a slapping head kick. Sepi Koli is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Pederson misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Koli.

Pederson attempts a counter takedown but Koli avoids it well and moves away. Koli throws a body kick that misses. Deanthony Pederson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pederson lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Pederson gets a double leg takedown into Koli's guard. Pederson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. The ground and pound from Pederson seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Pederson creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Koli sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Horrible takedown attempt by Pederson or perhaps it was just good defense by Koli, which made it look bad. Pederson tries for a takedown but Koli sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Pederson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Pederson trying to control but Koli is working from the bottom. Pederson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Pederson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Pederson throwing strikes but missing. Koli is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Pederson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
 The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Pederson throws a hook but Koli blocks it. A little jabbing left from Koli on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Koli waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Pederson. Koli throws a series of punches but Pederson avoids them all with ease. Koli takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Koli tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pederson swats him away and circles back towards the center. Pederson's jab looks to have found its range, popping Koli under the eye. Pederson scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Pederson swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Koli avoids the body shot from Pederson.
 That's five minutes gone in the round. Koli gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Koli gets caught flat footed, as Pederson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Pederson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Pederson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Koli can do to turn this around? Pederson postures up and lands a big shot to Koli's brow. Pederson trying to control but Koli is working from the bottom. Pederson sitting in guard, not really doing much.

and Koli counters with a left and a right that stings Pederson. Pederson digs a good hook to Koli's body.
Koli throws a hook but Pederson avoids it easily. Pederson changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Koli misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Pederson.

 That's eight minutes gone in the round. Koli's corner calls for a 1-2. Koli obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Koli fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Pederson looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Pederson throws a hook but Koli blocks it. It seemed like Koli was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Pederson misses with a body shot.

Pederson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Koli doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Pederson. Koli has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Pederson is working away from the top position though.
 That's nine minutes gone in the round. Koli avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Pederson. Koli wants to improve his position but Pederson is controlling well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Pederson wants to control but Koli is keeping him busy. Pederson lands with a punch from half guard. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Deanthony Pederson will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Deanthony Pederson! A very excited looking Deanthony Pederson rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
