Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mac Chardy (ranked 3178 p4p, 2291 weight class) and Jerry Kerl (ranked 326 p4p, 256 weight class). Mac Chardy had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 171.9lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Jerry Kerl has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mac Chardy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jerry Kerl!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Daniel Franklin and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chardy throws a left and a right that both miss
and Kerl counters with a left to the body.
Kerl takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Chardy misses with a takedown attempt
and Kerl counters with a straight right hand.
Chardy takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Chardy looks to land a combination but Kerl avoids it well.
Kerl looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Chardy swings for the body but Kerl moves out of range.
Chardy shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kerl defends it nicely.
Chardy is breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chardy throws the left hand but Kerl avoids the punch easily.
Kerl lands with a nice body punch.
Kerl uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Chardy on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kerl lands with a hook. Chardy tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Chardy is rocked!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Chardy shoots in looking for a takedown. Kerl tries to sprawl out of it but Chardy keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kerl manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Oh Chardy is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mac Chardy. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A shot to the liver by Kerl. Beautiful body shot.
Chardy seems to have got his legs back now.
Chardy takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Mac Chardy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Chardy takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Kerl lands a big uppercut and Chardy crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Chardy looks OK. Kerl waves Chardy back to his feet!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kerl jabs Chardy to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Crack! Kerl connects with the perfect overhand right and Chardy falls face first to the canvas. Timbeeeeeeeer! Beautiful knockout for Kerl!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jerry Kerl!
