Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kin Kon (ranked 1259 p4p, 2690 weight class) and Kai Asakura (ranked 109 p4p, 179 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kin Kon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kai Asakura! The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Viktor Lagutenko and Igor Prikhodko.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Asakura walks into a jab. Kon has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Kon looking to score a takedown here. Asakura is defending well but Kon drives through and ends up in Asakura's guard. Asakura utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Kon lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Kon loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Kon wants to control from the top but Asakura keeps moving. Kon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Asakura swivels though and keeps the full guard. Asakura told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet. Kon trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Kon with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kon postures up in Asakura's guard and throws a big left but Asakura blocks it. Kon connects with a couple of short punches. Kon is looking to work some ground and pound but Asakura has wrist control. Kon postures up and lands a big shot to Asakura's brow. Kon looking to pass the guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Kon throws a big elbow that misses. Kon throws an elbow that misses. Asakura uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kon's guard. Nice move by Asakura!

 That's two minutes gone in the round. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kon is on top in guard.
Kon chips away with some ground and pound. Asakura working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Kon. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Asakura is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Kon postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Asakura bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kon's guard.
 The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kon is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kon had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Asakura defends it easily. Kon wants to sweep but no luck. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Asakura trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
 That's three minutes gone in the round.
Asakura gets to his feet - Kon follows without any prompting. Asakura throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Kon swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Asakura on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Kon fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Asakura, pushing him back against the cage. Still in the clinch, Kon scores with a nice short uppercut.
Asakura manages to break the clinch.
Asakura connects with a body shot that sends Kon's belly button to the back. Asakura pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Kon throws a shot from downtown. Asakura moves away and avoids it. Asakura throws a sloppy head kick and Kon moves out of range easily. Kon misses with an uppercut. Asakura swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Kai Asakura is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Kon misses with a hook. A nice side step and Asakura releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. Asakura on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Kon shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Asakura defends it nicely.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. A lazy body kick from Asakura letting Kon counter with a right hand. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Asakura defending well as Kon loads up on a big left hand. Kon misses with a looping left.
Kon is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Asakura's half guard.
Asakura pushes Kon off and gets back to his feet. Kon looks to throw the jab but Asakura is out of range. Kon bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Kon tests Asakura's chin there with a solid looking shot. Kon throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Asakura throws a right hand that misses
and Kon counters with a nice uppercut. Asakura looks to land a left hand but Kon moved out of range nicely. Asakura misses with a hook. Kon ducked under it nicely.
Kon has closed the distance and engaged Asakura in a clinch.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Kin Kon dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Kon tests Asakura's chin there with a solid looking shot. Kon uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
 Asakura is rocked! Kon is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Asakura can do to turn this around? Kon throws a jab when Asakura was well out of range. Kon thows a left - swing and a miss! Kon tries to clinch up. Asakura looks like he wants to counter punch here. Asakura throws a lazy head kick and Kon cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Kon avoids the head kick by Asakura.
Kon swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Asakura throws a looping overhand right but Kon ducks down to avoid it. Kon swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Asakura swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Kon is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Asakura walks into a stiff left hand from Kon. Asakura is still on wobbly legs! Can Kon finish him? Kon looks to land a left hand but Asakura moved out of range nicely. Asakura digs a good hook to Kon's body.
Asakura seems to have recovered his senses. Asakura on the wrong end of a nice jab. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Kon cracks Asakura with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Asakura tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Kon pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Asakura is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kin Kon! Kin Kon decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
