PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tian Long (ranked 1133 p4p, 1146 weight class) and Old Grappling (ranked 144 p4p, 145 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Grappling's choice of entrance music: After Dark - Old Grappling. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tian Long!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Old Grappling!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Dillan Fox and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Long misses with a hook.

Grappling takes the fight into the clinch.

Long pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Grappling moves in looking to clinch but Long pushes him off.
Long throws a jab but it's blocked by Grappling.
Grappling darts in trying to clinch
and Long cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

It looks like Old Grappling has been cut.

Grappling drives through and clinches with Long against the cage.
Long can't find room to land a body shot as Grappling controls the action.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Long escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Grappling tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Long swivels and escapes.
Grappling has his takedown stuffed
and Long connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Grappling moves away from the strike by Long.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Long fails to land with a series of punches.
Grappling throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Long scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Long avoids the body shot from Grappling.
Long was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Long stuffs the takedown attempt from Grappling. Grappling gets slowly back to his feet.
Tian Long has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Old Grappling.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Long enables Grappling to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Long manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Grappling with a flurry of punches that miss.
Grappling seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Grappling stands up over Long, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Grappling postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Grappling working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Long's head.
Long has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Grappling lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Grappling has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Oh Long is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Grappling lands a couple of digs.
Grappling makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Grappling gets to his feet and stands over Long, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Long felt that one! Grappling unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Long from any more punishment!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Old Grappling!
Old Grappling gave a mention to Hype Nutrition in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
