PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Danny Stewart (ranked 699 p4p, 1046 weight class) and Digital Jokinen (ranked 85 p4p, 128 weight class). Stewart comes to the cage accompanied by Tupac - Hit 'Em Up. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 16 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Danny Stewart! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Digital Jokinen! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Gregory Folan and Elvis Blanc.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jokinen drives through and clinches with Stewart against the cage.
A nice right hand lands inside from Jokinen. Stewart slows down the pace here.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Jokinen. Jokinen tries to pull guard but Stewart holds him up against the cage and eventually Jokinen drops back down to his feet.
Jokinen doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Stewart blocks an uppercut.
Jokinen scores with a shot to the side of Stewart's head. Jokinen lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Stewart is trying to break free. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jokinen works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Jokinen is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Stewart to keep the fight standing. Stewart is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Jokinen is keeping busy. Jokinen misses with a hook from the clinch.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Stewart tries to throw a body punch but Jokinen avoids it by throwing Stewart back against the cage.
Jokinen pulls guard effortlessly. Stewart would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Stewart definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Jokinen is looking to sweep but instead, Stewart has passed into half guard.
Stewart moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Jokinen.
Stewart decides to stand back up. Stewart steps back and let's Jokinen get back to his feet. Jokinen misses with a double jab
and Stewart counters with a lovely straight right hand!
 It looks like Digital Jokinen has been cut. Jokinen lands with a shot to the body. Stewart uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Jokinen.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Jokinen misses with an uppercut
and Stewart counters with a left and a right that stings Jokinen. Stewart circles away from the clinch attempt
and Stewart counters with a nice right hand that sends Jokinen toppling to the canvas! Jokinen scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Stewart finish him?!
 Jokinen is rocked! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Jokinen throws a lazy head kick and Stewart counters with a big left hand that crumples Jokinen! He was out before he hit the floor! Brutal knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Danny Stewart! A relieved looking Danny Stewart thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
