Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mark Beneke (ranked 205 p4p, 1683 weight class) and Lew Alcindor (ranked 33 p4p, 190 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Mark Beneke has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Mark Beneke seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Beneke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lew Alcindor!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yuuki Gou and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alcindor bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Beneke stuffs the takedown attempt from Alcindor. Alcindor gets slowly back to his feet.
Alcindor shoots for a takedown but Beneke saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Beneke connects with a looping right hand.
Beneke throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Mark Beneke seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Alcindor gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Alcindor closes the distance and clinches up with Beneke, looking for a takedown. Alcindor pushes Beneke against the cage but Beneke circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Beneke swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Alcindor.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Beneke lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Alcindor shoots in and drives through. Beneke sprawls well.
Alcindor shoots for a takedown but Beneke saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Alcindor shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Beneke throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Alcindor stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Alcindor goes for a double leg but Beneke avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Beneke continues to drive forward.
Alcindor looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Beneke is fending him off so far but Alcindor persists. Nope, Beneke circles away and we're back to standing.

After the fight, Mark Beneke was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
