Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mark Beneke (ranked 205 p4p, 1683 weight class) and Lew Alcindor (ranked 33 p4p, 190 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Mark Beneke has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Mark Beneke seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 20 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Beneke! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lew Alcindor! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yuuki Gou and Taro Takaoka.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alcindor bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Beneke stuffs the takedown attempt from Alcindor. Alcindor gets slowly back to his feet. Alcindor shoots for a takedown but Beneke saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Beneke connects with a looping right hand.
Beneke throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Mark Beneke seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Alcindor gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Beneke looks to throw the jab but Alcindor is out of range. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Alcindor is defended easily by Beneke. Mark Beneke has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lew Alcindor. Beneke lunges at Alcindor with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Alcindor's hand. Beneke throws a nice outside leg kick. Beneke scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Beneke lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Alcindor slips a straight right by Beneke. Alcindor changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. A jab from Beneke does it's job there. Beneke chopping away at his opponent's legs.

Beneke tries to sprawl but Alcindor drives through with a takedown into half guard. Alcindor throws a strike but Beneke avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Alcindor is stalling in the full guard.
Beneke pushes Alcindor off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Beneke lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Beneke has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Doom\'s Gym in the buildup to the fight. Alcindor closes the distance and clinches up with Beneke, looking for a takedown. Alcindor pushes Beneke against the cage but Beneke circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Beneke swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Alcindor. Jab, jab by Beneke - just one landing. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Beneke lands with a straight right. Alcindor didn't see that one coming. Alcindor takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Alcindor dives in and scores a takedown into Beneke's guard.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Alcindor cracks Beneke with a solid left hand. Alcindor wants to control from the top but Beneke keeps moving. Alcindor must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Beneke has control of Alcindor's left arm, preventing Alcindor from doing any damage. Alcindor tries to free his leg and advance position but Beneke is retaining full guard. Alcindor stops Beneke from standing up.
Beneke kicks Alcindor off and gets to his feet. Alcindor takes one to the side of the head.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Alcindor takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Beneke misses with a hook. Alcindor ducked under it nicely. Beneke scores with a jab to the jaw. Beneke throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Nice uppercut lands for Beneke. That snapped Alcindor's head back.
Beneke stuffs the takedown. Alcindor is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Beneke misses with a hook. Alcindor ducked under it nicely.
Beneke fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Alcindor sprawls well initially but Beneke persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Beneke in particular looking to stall. Alcindor is trying to get back to full guard.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Beneke tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Beneke stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Beneke lands a lovely overhand right. Alcindor slips under a jab. Beneke moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Alcindor drives through with a takedown into guard. Alcindor throws a strike but Beneke rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Mark Beneke dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Beneke moves into range and connects with a jab. Beneke throws a sloppy head kick and Alcindor moves out of range easily. Beneke connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Alcindor momentarily.
Beneke lands a two punch combo.
Beneke cracks Alcindor with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Beneke works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Beneke lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Mark Beneke is winning the standup battle so far. Alcindor shoots in and drives through. Beneke sprawls well. Alcindor shoots for a takedown but Beneke saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Beneke moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. This has been an exciting period of action! Beneke lands with an overhand left. Beneke lands an overhand right. Beneke bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Alcindor's head. Lew Alcindor is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Jab, jab by Beneke - just one landing. Alcindor shoots in and drives through. Beneke sprawls well. Mark Beneke has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lew Alcindor. Alcindor takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Beneke lands a jab to the nose. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Alcindor.
 That's one minute gone in the round. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Alcindor is defended easily by Beneke. Donk. Beneke catches Alcindor right on the button with a cross. Beneke scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Beneke connects with a body shot. Alcindor takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Alcindor has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye. Beneke fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Beneke getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Beneke scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Beneke cracks Alcindor with an open hand slap. Alcindor shoots for a double leg takedown but Beneke sprawls well. He's pushed Alcindor's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Beneke closes the distance and lands a one-two. This has been an exciting period of action! Beneke scores with a jab. Alcindor acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Alcindor walks into a left hand.
 Alcindor is rocked! Beneke slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Alcindor is still on wobbly legs! Can Beneke finish him? Alcindor takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Beneke connects with a jab. Beneke scores with a punch to the head. Nice defenses there by Alcindor.
Alcindor shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Alcindor prevents Beneke from standing back up.
Alcindor seems to have recovered his senses. Alcindor is looking to stall here but Beneke recovers full guard. Alcindor's corner is telling him to maintain position.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Alcindor trying to control but Beneke is working from the bottom. Beneke wants to stand but Alcindor is controlling the position. Beneke utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
 The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Beneke works over Alcindor's head and body with a nice combination. Alcindor takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. A telegraphed right hand from Beneke misses the target. Alcindor has a takedown stuffed. Alcindor closes this distance looking for a takedown but Beneke circles away. Alcindor fails to land the takedown. Alcindor shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Beneke throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Alcindor stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Beneke tests Alcindor's chin there with a solid looking shot. Beneke scores with the left hand. Alcindor knows he should have avoided that one. Beneke is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Alcindor can do to turn this around? The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Beneke throws a nice inside leg kick. Beneke scores with a jab. Alcindor takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Mark Beneke dominated that second round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Alcindor gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Beneke lands a jab to the nose. Donk. Beneke catches Alcindor right on the button with a cross. Alcindor takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Alcindor shoots in and bounces Beneke off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Alcindor sitting in guard, not really doing much. Alcindor stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Beneke swivels though and keeps the full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Beneke utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Alcindor is looking to pass into half guard but Beneke pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Beneke is in guard.

Alcindor throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Beneke escapes and throws Alcindor's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Beneke decides to stand back up. Beneke steps back and let's Alcindor get back to his feet.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Alcindor goes for a double leg but Beneke avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Beneke continues to drive forward. Alcindor looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Beneke is fending him off so far but Alcindor persists. Nope, Beneke circles away and we're back to standing. Beneke throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Alcindor stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Alcindor closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Beneke's corner calls for a 1-2. Beneke obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Beneke defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Alcindor. Beneke went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Mark Beneke has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lew Alcindor. Alcindor takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Alcindor takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Beneke paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Beneke lands with a straight right. Alcindor didn't see that one coming. A jab from Beneke finds it's way through Alcindor's defenses. Beneke scores with a jab. Alcindor needs to keep his hands up - Beneke had a free shot at his head there. Beneke dips to his left and cracks Alcindor with an uppercut! Beneke scores with a nice head shot. Beneke drops Alcindor with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Alcindor! Beneke dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mark Beneke! After the fight, Mark Beneke was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
