PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Higanti Libat (ranked 23126 p4p, 23380 weight class) and Way Nada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 52 - 74 - 6, fighting out of Las Vegas, Higanti Libat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 63 - 65 - 5, fighting out of Las Vegas, Way Nada!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Libat fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Nada feints the counter takedown.
Libat shoots in looking for a takedown but Nada manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Libat's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Nada shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Libat but Libat pushes him off and we're back to square one.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Libat pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Nada counters with a body kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Nada closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Nada moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Libat tries to improve position but can't.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Libat is not content to let Nada control the position.

Libat is trying to control Nada's posture but Nada avoids it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Nada misses with a takedown attempt - Libat sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Libat defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Nada.
It appears Libat was looking to counter with a kick there.
Higanti Libat has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Way Nada.
Libat fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
As Libat backs off Nada throws a huge counter combo but Libat manages to avoid it all.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Nada shoots for a double leg takedown but Libat sprawls well. He's pushed Nada's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Nada fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Libat is looking to counter with a body kick.
Libat sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Nada shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Libat makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Way Nada dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Libat manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Nada on his heels. He'll look to pass Nada's guard now, I'm sure.
Libat stays in close to Nada's body and controls the position.
Libat has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Libat is fighting to break Nada's control of his arms but Nada is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Libat stays in close to Nada's body and controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Nada controlling Libat's posture.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Libat slaps away a takedown attempt from Nada, before circling back to the center of the mat.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Nada stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Nada wants it to stay on the feet.
Nada follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Libat is defended easily by Nada.
Libat misses with a takedown attempt - Nada sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Higanti Libat. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Nada tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Libat defends well and Nada ends up having to push Libat into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
And Libat counters with a quick kick to the body but Nada blocks it.
Libat blocks the body kick.
Libat jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Horrible takedown attempt by Libat or perhaps it was just good defense by Nada, which made it look bad.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Nada changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Libat looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Libat throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Nada closes this distance looking for a takedown but Libat circles away.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Nada gets a takedown into half guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Higanti Libat dominated that second round.
That's time! Libat's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Libat looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Nada!

Nada seems a little lost for a moment, as Libat dominates the positioning.

You can see the frustration on Nada's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Libat wants to control but Nada is keeping him busy.
Nada struggling a bit here.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Libat with a lazy takedown attempt
and Nada counters with a head kick. That will keep Libat thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Nada closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Libat's guard.
Nada seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Libat controls Nada momentarily but Nada frees himself.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nada is pushing down on Libat's leg trying to pass to half guard. Libat is fighting to maintain full guard but Nada has managed to sneak the leg through.
Nada is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Libat feints and as Nada raises his hands in defense, Libat changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Higanti Libat showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Libat has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
