Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Grant Hyde (ranked 527 p4p, 806 weight class) and Digital Jokinen (ranked 66 p4p, 102 weight class). Hyde comes to the cage accompanied by Darkside-Neoni. Digital Jokinen told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Grant Hyde!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Digital Jokinen!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Alec Ball and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jokinen on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Jokinen ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
A jab from Jokinen misses.

Hyde thows a leg kick but Jokinen checks it
and Jokinen counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Hyde on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Hyde looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
A telegraphed right hand from Hyde misses the target.
Hyde is looking to score with low kicks.
Jokinen raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Jokinen cracks Hyde with a right hand to the side of the head.
Hyde scores with a nice head shot.
Hyde avoids the head kick by Jokinen.
Hyde connects with a good right hand that stumbles Jokinen. Jokinen circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hyde just misses with a punch to the body.
Jokinen moves forwards but Hyde connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Jokinen on the wrong end of a nice hook.

Jokinen chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Hyde can pounce on him.
Jokinen connects with a high kick.
It looks like Grant Hyde has been cut.
A solid leg kick lands there for Jokinen.
Hyde throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Jokinen stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
A slapping leg kick lands for Hyde.
Hyde throws out a powerful jab.
Hyde lands a jab to Jokinen's midsection.
Hyde plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Hyde throws a lazy body kick
and Jokinen cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Grant Hyde seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hyde misses with a lunging right hand
and Jokinen counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Hyde throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Jokinen stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Jokinen flicks out a counter leg kick but Hyde steps away.
Jokinen lands with a thumping leg kick.
Hyde moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
A head kick by Hyde misses
and Jokinen counters with a straight right hand.
Hyde throws an overhand right that lands on Jokinen's shoulder, as Jokinen tries to avoid the shot.
Jokinen unleashes a big counter combination but Hyde bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Hyde scores with a jab to the body.
A jab from Hyde finds it's way through Jokinen's defenses.
Jokinen on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Hyde drops Jokinen with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Jokinen looks back up at him and smiles so Hyde waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Jokinen is rocked!
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hyde finds Jokinen's off switch, with a big overhand right that connects perfectly to the side of the head! Jokinen flops back against the cage, eyes gazing into the distance. Hyde lands an unnecessary shot before the referee has time to step in and end the fight. Brutal stuff but I'm sure Jokinen will be OK.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:09 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Grant Hyde!
