Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between William Kidd (ranked 1954 p4p, 3313 weight class) and Happy Gilmore (ranked 237 p4p, 389 weight class). Kidd comes to the cage accompanied by Spanish Ladies, by Colm McGuinness. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, William Kidd! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 6 - 1, fighting out of New York, Happy Gilmore! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Ren Mimura and Shirou Masuda.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kidd tests Gilmore's chin there with a solid looking shot. Gilmore keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Gilmore throws a body shot but no joy. Gilmore throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Gilmore changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kidd looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Gilmore wants to control but Kidd is keeping him busy. Gilmore is working Kidd over with some ground and pound from side control. Kidd tries to bench press Gilmore off him but Gilmore keeps the position. We've been hearing good reports from Kidd's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Gilmore throws a strike aimed at the side of Kidd's head but Kidd avoids it well. Kidd manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kidd is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Kidd throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Gilmore is looking for a sweep. Kidd is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Kidd lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Kidd is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Gilmore sees it coming and defends easily. Kidd is thwarting Gilmore's attempts to control the position.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Gilmore keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Gilmore trying to hold on to Kidd's head to control him but Kidd postures up.
Gilmore tries to roll over but Kidd keeps him under control. Kidd works his way into side control. Kidd landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Kidd misses with the ground and pound. Kidd trying to control the action but Gilmore is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Check out the look on Kidd's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Gilmore is trying to control Kidd's posture but Kidd avoids it.
Kidd tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Kidd scoring with punches and elbows. Kidd working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Kidd working away.
Kidd is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gilmore knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Gilmore is working to avoid the ground and pound but Kidd connects with a decent elbow. Kidd in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Gilmore really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kidd. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Gilmore tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kidd wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Gilmore is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Gilmore is trying to work for a sweep but Kidd has mounted him! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Gilmore tries to hold on but Kidd pushes him away.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Kidd punishing his opponent with strikes. Kidd looking to control but Gilmore is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Gilmore tries to lock up and control but Kidd gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Kidd trying to control but Gilmore is having none of it.
Kidd jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Gilmore manages to avoid the submission attempt. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gilmore can do anything to dispel that myth. Kidd working the head and body with strikes. Gilmore is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Kidd is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Kidd raining down shots from the mount! Kidd has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Kidd prevents Gilmore from getting the reversal. Kidd avoids the attempt from Gilmore to control. Gilmore swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
 That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kidd with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Kidd with shots to the head and body - Gilmore looks very uncomfortable down there. This has been an exciting period of action! Gilmore tries to hold on but Kidd pushes him away. Kidd trying to control but Gilmore is having none of it. Gilmore swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing. Gilmore tries to hold on but Kidd pushes him away. Kidd connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Gilmore is trying desperately to improve position.
Kidd is working for a guillotine from mount but Gilmore frees his head quite easily.
Kidd lands a heavy elbow. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
William Kidd dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Kidd looks to land a combination but Gilmore avoids it well. Gilmore throws out a counter right but Kidd avoids it with no problem. Kidd uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Gilmore has time to react. Kidd is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gilmore can do to turn this around? Kidd scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Gilmore jabs at Kidd's body. A big right from Gilmore misses. William Kidd is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Gilmore looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Gilmore stays in close to Kidd's body and controls the position.
Gilmore is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Kidd has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Gilmore is looking to defend but Kidd has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Gilmore! Kidd pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Gilmore taps out and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). William Kidd! Post fight, William Kidd stared into the camera and said 'Aye, lads! Hoist the Flag! The day is ours!
