Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Aki Kulku (ranked 2847 p4p, 4669 weight class) and Bo Brands (ranked 337 p4p, 474 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Aki Kulku!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bo Brands!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Skip Squint and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brands defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kulku.
Kulku shoots for a double leg takedown but Brands sprawls well. He's pushed Kulku's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Kulku fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aki Kulku. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kulku closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Brands might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Kulku haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kulku closes the distance and clinches up with Brands, looking for a takedown. Kulku pushes Brands against the cage but Brands circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Brands changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Kulku fails to land the takedown.

Kulku shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Kulku has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Brands escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kulku gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Brands has his foot on Kulku's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kulku works his way back into a safe position though.
Brands has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
No luck for Kulku with that takedown attempt.

Kulku looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Brands slaps away a takedown attempt from Kulku, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Brands is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.

Kulku feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Kulku darts in looking for a takedown but Brands gets double underhooks and turns Kulku into the cage.

Kulku got a little sloppy there for a moment and Brands has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kulku has managed to get both his arms back between Brands's legs - danger averted.

Brands is looking for a sweep. Kulku is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Kulku will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Brands is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kulku pulls his head out easily.

Brands slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Bo Brands has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Brands has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Kulku is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Brands.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Aki Kulku.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kulku, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A relieved looking Aki Kulku thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
