And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Odin Markkanen!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Paulo Santos and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Chai does it's job there.
We've been told by Chai's head coaches at Master Chai's Dojo that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Chai scores with a jab to the jaw.
Chai throws a shot from downtown. Markkanen moves away and avoids it.
Markkanen keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Chai slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Markkanen tries to close the distance and clinch up but Chai swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Jeong Hoon Chai seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Markkanen bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Chai tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Markkanen has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Chai is trying to keep an underhook but Markkanen manages to get the takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Markkanen in particular looking to stall.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Chai was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jeong Hoon Chai will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Markkanen slips a jab from Chai.
As Chai backs off Markkanen throws a huge counter combo but Chai manages to avoid it all.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Markkanen is defended easily by Chai.
Markkanen closes this distance looking for a takedown but Chai circles away.
Markkanen tries to bum rush Chai with a series of wild strikes but Chai uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Jeong Hoon Chai has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Odin Markkanen.
Markkanen wants to clinch up but Chai keeps it at a distance.

Chai was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.

Chai scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Markkanen doesn't seem bothered though.

It looked like Chai was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Markkanen tries to lock up and control but Chai gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Chai has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Odin Markkanen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Markkanen felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Chai, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
