Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Wellington shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Filerup as he jumps to the side. Filerup attempts a counter takedown but Wellington avoids it well and moves away.
Filerup moves into the clinch. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Wellington has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Wellington is working for takedown but Filerup is calmly controlling the position for now. Wellington tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Filerup smiles and moves away.
Immagunna Filerup has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chad Wellington.

Filerup is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Wellington is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Wellington is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Filerup is holding Wellington down, trying to stall.

 That's two minutes gone in the round. Wellington stops Filerup from passing to mount. Wellington is trying to improve his position. Wellington can't do much from the bottom here. Filerup controlling the position from side mount. Wellington regains half guard. Wellington wants to get back to full guard.

Filerup manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wellington had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Filerup defends it easily.
