PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kim Jones (ranked 504 p4p, 1013 weight class) and Buster Posey (ranked 29 p4p, 33 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Buster Posey !
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Posey on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

It looks like Buster Posey has been cut.

I was talking to Jones's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Posey has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Posey swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Jones.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

It looked like Jones wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Jones has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Jones is looking for a triangle but Posey pushes his legs off easily.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Jones has his foot on Posey 's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Posey works his way back into a safe position though.

That's time! Jones's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Jones uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Jones throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Posey tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Jones is able to avoid easily.

Jones throws a half hearted mid kick.
Jones thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Posey if he has to take too many more of those.
Posey takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Jones goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Jones throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Posey stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Jones throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Posey takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
A big left from Jones misses.
Posey swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
A punch lands to the side of Jones 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Jones bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Posey blocks a head kick by Jones.
Jones lands a jab to the nose.
Jones catches Posey with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Jones throws a leg kick but Posey sees it coming and moves out of range.
Posey is trying to counter with his kicks.

Jones cracks Posey with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Nice defenses there by Posey .
Jones takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Jones is looking to counter punch.

and Posey counters with a straight right hand.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kim Jones showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Jones has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
