PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kieran Chan (ranked 2448 p4p, 3821 weight class) and Keagan Bean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Kieran Chan has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kieran Chan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Keagan Bean!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Ivan Kurochkin and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bean throws an off balance right hand
enabling Chan to counter with a crisp jab.
Bean throws a poor cross that misses
and Chan counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Bean throws an overhand right that lands on Chan's shoulder, as Chan tries to avoid the shot.
Bean misses with an uppercut
and Chan makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Bean waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Chan.
Bean slaps away a takedown attempt from Chan, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Chan seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chan bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Chan fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Chan looks to score with a jab to the body but Bean is just out of range.
Chan misses with a takedown attempt - Bean sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Chan fails to land the takedown.
Bean swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kieran Chan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bean throws a jab when Chan was well out of range.
A little feinted left hand from Chan on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Bean avoids the body shot from Chan.
Horrible takedown attempt by Chan or perhaps it was just good defense by Bean, which made it look bad.

Bean rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Chan moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Chan tries to close the distance and clinch but Bean swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Bean tries to counter by closing the distance.
Keagan Bean is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Bean throws a hook but Chan blocks it.
Bean misses the shot to the body.
Chan misses with a head kick.
Bean swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Chan is looking to counter punch.
Bean throws a lazy right hand but Chan sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Bean swings away with a body shot that misses
and Chan counters with a two punch combo.
Bean is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Chan.

Chan wants to land a leg kick but Bean is out of range.
Donk. Chan catches Bean right on the button with a cross.
A swing and a miss from Bean.
A counter left hand to the body from Chan misses its target.
Bean swats away the attempt to clinch by Chan.
Bean misses with a double jab
enabling Chan to counter with a crisp jab.
Bean feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Chans jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Chan is looking to wear down Bean with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Bean walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Chan smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Bean moves in looking to clinch but Chan pushes him off.
Chan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Bean.
Bean swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Chan lands with a hook. Bean tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Chan shoots in but no luck this time.
It seemed like Bean was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bean swings and misses with a hook to the body.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kieran Chan dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Chan fails with an attempt to clinch.
Bean lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Chan circles away quickly and effectively.
Bean thuds his right hand into Chan's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Chan goes for a double leg but Bean avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Bean continues to drive forward.

Chan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Bean misses with an uppercut
and Chan cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Bean has Chan pushed against the cage.
Chan wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Chan tries to stall but Bean uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Chan blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Chan blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Bean struggles to land a body shot inside as Chan controls his hands.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Bean tries to throw a body punch but Chan avoids it by throwing Bean back against the cage.
Chan lands a nice uppercut.
Chan misses with a punch on the inside.
Bean keeps control of Chan as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Chan scores with a nice hook to the head.
Chan prevents a body shot from Bean.
Bean leaning his opponent against the cage.
Chan tries to circle away but Bean has him pinned against the cage.

Chan tries to break the clinch but Bean is controlling the position.
Bean stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Bean has Chan pressed against the cage, preventing Chan from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
A head punch on the inside from Bean fails to land.
Bean lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Chan backwards.
Bean digs a right hand into Chan's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Chan's gas tank.
Bean controlling the action here for a moment.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Keagan Bean.

Keagan Bean showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Chan lunges at Bean with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Bean's hand.
Decent striking displayed by Chan there.

Bean misses with a lunging right hand
and Chan connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Bean takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Bean misses with a left hand
and Chan cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Bean is still on wobbly legs! Can Chan finish him?

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Chan counters with a huge left! Bean is in big trouble! He's backing up but Chan isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Bean from any more damage. A dominating finish by Chan!
