The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Donald Grub and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
John avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
John feints and then cracks Soares's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Soares down.
Soares tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but John was well out of range. Poor timing from Soares.
John darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Soares lands a straight punch to the body, keeping John at a distance.
Soares connects with a body shot that sends John's belly button to the back.
Soares checks a low kick from John.
Soares steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from John.
John slips under a jab.
Soares swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
John throws a looping overhand right but Soares ducks down to avoid it.
