The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hooper has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Hooper misses with an uppercut. Emelianenko saw that one coming.
Emelianenko ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Hooper tries to bum rush Emelianenko with a series of wild strikes but Emelianenko uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Emelianenko is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Stanley Emelianenko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A jab from Hooper finds it's way through Emelianenko's defenses.
Hooper shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Hooper was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Emelianenko is not content to let Hooper control the position.
Check out the look on Hooper's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Hooper is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Emelianenko knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

A relieved looking Stanley Emelianenko thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
