Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between The Wilson (ranked 1414 p4p, 1454 weight class) and Aleksandr Zuev (ranked 183 p4p, 187 weight class). Wilson's entrance music is Painkiller. A fine choice. Aleksandr Zuev has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, The Wilson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Aleksandr Zuev!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Saam Ante and Daniel Blasius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zuev throws a half hearted mid kick.
Wilson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Zuev swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
A cross from Zuev lands.
Zuev fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Wilson on the side of the head.
Zuev clobbers Wilson with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Wilson misses with a series of wild punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wilson fails in his attempt to clinch.
Zuev swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Zuev fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Zuev has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

and Zuev counters with a three punch combo that has Wilson backing up. Wilson nods at Zuev to acknowledge the strikes.
It looks like The Wilson has been cut.

and Wilson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Zuev tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Wilson takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Wilson tries to clinch up but Zuev circles away and keeps his distance.
Wilson dives in and scores a takedown into Zuev's guard.

Wilson lunges at Zuev with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Zuev's hand.

Wilson misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Zuev.
It seemed like Zuev was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Wilson throws an off balance right hand
letting Zuev counter with a right hand.
Zuev rushes Wilson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
I was talking to Wilson's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Wilson is trying to pull guard but Zuev has him pressed against the cage.
Zuev is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Wilson drags the fight down to the ground.
Zuev is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Wilson is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Zuev presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Zuev darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Wilson on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Oh Wilson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Wilson shoots in looking for a takedown but Zuev manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Wilson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
A jab from Zuev finds it's way through Wilson's defenses.

and Zuev counters with a stiff right hand.
Wilson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Zuev works Wilson's body with a nice hook.
Wilson looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Zuev misses with a few strikes there.
Wilson seems to have got his legs back now.
Zuev cracks Wilson with a good jab.
Zuev connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Wilson! He's out on his feet! Zuev rushes in and drops Wilson with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Aleksandr Zuev!
Aleksandr Zuev decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
The Wilson was interviewed post fight and said 'I'll be back, won't get rid of me that easily!'.
