Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Karl Stienz (ranked 2699 p4p, 2493 weight class) and Jeramiah Pony (ranked 191 p4p, 177 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Karl Stienz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jeramiah Pony!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Michael Johnstone and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stienz closes the distance and clinches up with Pony, looking for a takedown. Stienz pushes Pony against the cage but Pony circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
We've been hearing reports that Stienz has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Stienz misses with a takedown attempt

and Pony counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Pony working the head and body with strikes.
Stienz is looking for a sweep. Pony is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Pony lands a nice short elbow.
Stienz gets back to full guard.
Stienz controls Pony momentarily but Pony frees himself.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pony stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stienz swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Pony trying to control but Stienz is working from the bottom.
Pony postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Stienz looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pony is one step ahead there.
Pony has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Stienz avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Pony postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Pony working some strikes from top position.
Stienz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Pony got a little sloppy there for a moment and Stienz has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pony has managed to get both his arms back between Stienz's legs - danger averted.
Stienz looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Stienz not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Stienz is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Pony is controlling him.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Stienz gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Pony postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pony stopping the sweep attempt from Stienz.
Pony chips away with some ground and pound.
Stienz wants to hit a sweep here but Pony passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Stienz there!
Pony lands a big shot there that rocks Stienz but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Stienz working to try and regain half guard.
Stienz tries to lock up and control but Pony gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stienz is just holding on here. Pony manages to take his back.
Stienz just trying to survive but Pony is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pony loading up with punches from the back mount - how long can Stienz hold on?

Stienz is rocked!

Pony has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Stienz is in real trouble here. Pony gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Stienz is tapping out! Pony wins by rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jeramiah Pony!
Jeramiah Pony bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
