Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Masanori Rikishii (ranked 4069 p4p, 4157 weight class) and Jack Hammer (ranked 290 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Hammer!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hammer throws a chopping leg kick but Rikishii manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Rikishii keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Hammer has a takedown stuffed.
Rikishii stuffs the takedown attempt from Hammer. Hammer gets slowly back to his feet.
Masanori Rikishii has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Hammer.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Hammer jumps guard and drags Rikishii to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Hammer pulls Rikishii in close to his closed guard and prevents Rikishii from doing any damage or advancing position.
Rikishii wants to pass the guard but Hammer is keeping the position.
Rikishii knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hammer on the ground.
Rikishii wants to control from the top but Hammer keeps moving.

Rikishii has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Rikishii closes the distance and clinches up with Hammer, looking for a takedown. Rikishii pushes Hammer against the cage but Hammer circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Hammer throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Nice body kick from Rikishii.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


The fight moves into the clinch position.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Rikishii.
Hammer tries to break free but Rikishii pushes him back against the cage.
Rikishii is trying to pull guard but Hammer has him pressed against the cage.
Rikishii with a knee to the head.
Rikishii on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Hammer looking for a takedown.
Hammer drops down looking for an ankle pick but Rikishii pulls his leg out and moves away.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hammer is defended easily by Rikishii.
Masanori Rikishii has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Hammer.
Hammer shoots in for a double leg but Rikishii sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Hammer is breathing heavily.

Rikishii feints and then cracks Hammer's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Hammer down.

Rikishii shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hammer pinned against the cage. Hammer gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Rikishii shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hammer as he avoids it easily.

Hammer misses with a takedown attempt - Rikishii sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Rikishii keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.

Hammer drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
The referee is keeping an eye on Rikishii - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Rikishii doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Rikishii is striking off his back. Hammer thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.
Rikishii won't allow Hammer to pass to mount.

Hammer digs a right hand into Rikishii's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Rikishii's gas tank.

I think Hammer has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
