PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pekka Kokko (ranked 5227 p4p, 5706 weight class) and Harold Cordova (ranked 487 p4p, 509 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Pekka Kokko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Harold Cordova!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Winston Alpacca and Santiago Holmes.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cordova throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Kokko was covering up waiting for the punch and Cordova finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Kokko controls Cordova momentarily but Cordova frees himself.
Cordova controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Cordova drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cordova jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kokko not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cordova controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Cordova wants to pass the guard but Kokko is keeping the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Cordova looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kokko is fending him off so far but Cordova persists. Nope, Kokko circles away and we're back to standing.
Cordova throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kokko's waist but Kokko gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cordova off to one side.
An attempted straight right counter from Kokko misses the target.
A nice inside leg kick there by Cordova. That's going to slow Kokko down.
Cordova shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Kokko counters with a nice right hand that sends Cordova toppling to the canvas! Cordova scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Kokko finish him?!

Cordova is rocked!

It looks like Harold Cordova has been cut.
Pekka Kokko has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Harold Cordova.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kokko Throws a clean left jab. Kokko Twirls his body and connects with a Spinning Back Fist that connects flush with Cordova's chin! Cordova crumbles to the ground and Kokko follows up with some unanswered strikes. It's all over!! Nice standup skills displayed by Kokko!
