Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mate Orsic (ranked 209 p4p, 551 weight class) and Gabriel Soares (ranked 27 p4p, 72 weight class). Orsic comes into the arena with KRS One - Rappaz R. N. Dainja blaring out of the sound system. Mate Orsic had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 156.0lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Daniel Blasius and Paul Aken.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Orsic swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Soares lands with a cross.
Orsic looks to throw the jab but Soares is out of range.
Orsic keeps the fight on the outside.
Orsic is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Orsic takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Soares throws a shot from downtown. Orsic moves away and avoids it.
Soares takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Soares manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Soares controls Orsic momentarily but Orsic frees himself.

Soares escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Orsic gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Orsic looking to sit in guard and control but Soares gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Soares slips nicely into half guard.

Orsic wants to stand back up but Soares manages to pass into side control.

Orsic shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Soares eats them both and turns towards Orsic to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

That was a close second round but I would say that Mate Orsic will probably get the nod.

Orsic has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Soares clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Orsic has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Soares has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Orsic is trying to stick to Soares's back but Soares is turning into Orsic. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Orsic's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Soares.
Orsic has his feet on Soares's thighs here. He's pushed Soares off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Soares screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
