The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bagrian getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Whaler slips a straight right by Bagrian.

Bagrian scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Whaler really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bagrian. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Whaler avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Bagrian.
Whaler trying to control but Bagrian postures up.
Bagrian has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Bagrian works his foot free and advances to mount.
Whaler is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Bagrian goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Whaler is on top in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Whaler tries to free his leg and advance position but Bagrian is retaining full guard.

Whaler has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Bagrian to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Whaler is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Bagrian pulls down on the head and he's put Whaler to sleep! This one is all over!
