The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Elizondo scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Machida steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Elizondo.
Elizondo lands a jab-cross combination.

It looks like Chinza Machida has been cut.
Elizondo misses with a straight left.
Machida throwing a counter right hand but Elizondo manages to avoid it.
Elizondo misses with a leg kick
and Machida counters with a three punch combo that has Elizondo backing up. Elizondo nods at Machida to acknowledge the strikes.
Elizondo throws a hook to the side of Machida's head but Machida sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Elizondo buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Machida dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Elizondo. That did some damage!
A swing and a miss from Elizondo.
Machida appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Machida takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Gaizka Elizondo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Elizondo misses with an uppercut.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Elizondo checks a leg kick.
Machida smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Elizondo misses with a straight left.
Machida throws a chopping leg kick but Elizondo manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Elizondo tries to clinch but Machida is having none of it.
Elizondo goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Elizondo throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
That kick from Elizondo tenderised Machida's leg. Machida is trying to keep his angry face on.
Elizondo takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
A slapping leg kick lands for Elizondo.
Elizondo scores with a nice body kick.
Elizondo has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Machida connects with a right hand. Elizondo shakes it off.
Elizondo fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Machida.
Elizondo misses with a body kick.

and Machida counters with a perfectly timed counter left hook that drops Elizondo to the mat, face first! Machida goes to the neutral corner and waits for the referee to start the count. Elizondo is back to hise feet already though and looking to continue the bout! Exciting stuff!

Elizondo replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Machida blocks it well.
Elizondo is still on wobbly legs! Can Machida finish him?
Machida closes the distance and catches Elizondo with a lead hook that drops him to the canvas! Elizondo is clearly dazed and struggling here! 3,4,5,6,7 and Elizondo is up to his feet but the referee has called it off! Elizondo is still far too wobbly and he's not going to allow the fight to continue! Machida takes it!
