PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gregor Marek (ranked 181 p4p, 1725 weight class) and Zakir Jumayev (ranked 24 p4p, 220 weight class). Jumayev has chosen Side to Side as his entrance music. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jumayev throws a lazy head kick
and Marek counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Jumayev misses with a head kick.
Marek connects with a single shot there.
Marek ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jumayev moves away.
Jumayev takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Marek lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Marek lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Marek moves in looking to clinch but Jumayev pushes him off.

Marek fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Jumayev, pushing him back against the cage.

Jumayev is trying to break the clinch but Marek is controlling him.
Marek pushes Jumayev back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
I was talking to Marek's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Jumayev throws a punch but it's blocked by Marek.

Jumayev breaks from the clinch.

Marek moves into range and clinches up with Jumayev.
Jumayev scores with a hook to the body.

Marek lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
A short body shot lands from Marek as the two fighters clinch.
Jumayev can't find room to land a body shot as Marek controls the action.

Jumayev throws a punch but it's blocked by Marek.
Marek is leaning against Jumayev and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Jumayev tries to circle away but Marek has him pinned against the cage.

Jumayev goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Marek fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Marek bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Jumayev's head.
A jab lands there for Marek.
Marek throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Jumayev.
Jumayev replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Marek blocks it well.

Gregor Marek seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Marek is looking to clinch.
Jumayev drops his hands momentarily and Marek takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Marek cracks Jumayev with a right hand to the side of the head.

Jumayev gets tackled into the cage by Marek. Marek maintains the clinch.
Jumayev is looking to break free of the clinch but Marek has double underhooks.
Marek doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Marek tries a body shot but Jumayev blocks it.

Marek lands a hook that snaps the head of Jumayev backwards.
Marek makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Jumayev's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Jumayev throws the kick towards the body but Marek avoids it.

Jumayev is rocked!
Marek shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Jumayev eats them both and turns towards Marek to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Jumayev is still on wobbly legs! Can Marek finish him?
Marek steps in with a hook that catches Jumayev right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Marek follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Jumayev looks absolutely devastated.

Gregor Marek gave a mention to Conviction in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
