Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Damar Sulekov (ranked 2140 p4p, 2023 weight class) and Kimbo Slaissi (ranked 114 p4p, 107 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Damar Sulekov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kimbo Slaissi!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sulekov throws a hook but Slaissi avoids it easily.
Slaissi fails to land with a series of punches.
Sulekov closes the distance and clinches up with Slaissi, looking for a takedown. Sulekov pushes Slaissi against the cage but Slaissi circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Slaissi slips under a jab from Sulekov.
Slaissi misses with a two punch combination.
Damar Sulekov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sulekov throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Slaissi throws a body shot but no joy.
Sulekov shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Slaissi sprawls well. Slaissi wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Sulekov gets slowly back to his feet.

Slaissi flicks out a counter leg kick but Sulekov steps away.
Sulekov fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Slaissi follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.

It looks like Damar Sulekov has been cut.

Slaissi feints and as Sulekov raises his hands in defense, Slaissi changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Sulekov is trying to control the position but Slaissi postures up.
Sulekov looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Slaissi must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Sulekov manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Slaissi manages to get himself to full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Slaissi wants to control from the top but Sulekov keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sulekov pulls Slaissi in close to his closed guard and prevents Slaissi from doing any damage or advancing position.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Sulekov doesn't manage to clinch there - Slaissi circles away.

Sulekov drops down looking for a counter takedown but Slaissi sprawls and moves away.

Sulekov has been working on his balance at ubergym, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Slaissi.

Slaissi has a couple of punches blocked by Sulekov.

Slaissi is pressed up against the cage. Sulekov has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Slaissi down to the mat. Slaissi avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

That was a close second round but I would say that Damar Sulekov will probably get the nod.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Sulekov bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Slaissi! He dives into his guard looking to finish!

That has opened up Kimbo Slaissi's cut even more.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sulekov accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Slaissi throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Sulekov tries to clinch
and Slaissi counters with a nice kick to the body.

and Slaissi finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

The cut above Kimbo Slaissi's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

Slaissi throws a sloppy head kick and Sulekov moves out of range easily.
Slaissi takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Sulekov has closed the distance and engaged Slaissi in a clinch.
Slaissi throws a punch but it's blocked by Sulekov.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sulekov lands with a short shot to the head.

Sulekov gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Sulekov trying to control the position from guard on top but Slaissi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Sulekov is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Slaissi is trying to keep Sulekov in close.
Sulekov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Slaissi swivels though and keeps the full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Damar Sulekov showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Sulekov has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
