Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Lincoln (ranked 331 p4p, 1052 weight class) and James Howlett (ranked 42 p4p, 114 weight class). Lincoln comes to the cage accompanied by Sgt MacKenzie. Howlett has chosen Indestructible as his entrance music. James Howlett is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alexander Lincoln !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, James Howlett!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Josh West and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Both fighters circling a little - Lincoln finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Howlett misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
A little feinted left hand from Lincoln on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Howlett tries to clinch up but Lincoln circles away and keeps his distance.
Howlett defending well as Lincoln loads up on a big left hand.
Howlett takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Howlett has his takedown stuffed
and Lincoln counters with a left to the body.
James Howlett seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Howlett avoids the body shot from Lincoln .

Lincoln gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Lincoln looking to control but Howlett passes into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Howlett stops Lincoln from getting back to his feet.

Lincoln is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Howlett pulls his head out easily.

Howlett is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Lincoln doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Howlett.
Lincoln tries to kick Howlett off but Howlett keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Lincoln kicks off Howlett and gets to his feet.
Howlett tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Lincoln makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Howlett really felt that one!

Howlett closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Lincoln to the mat! Lincoln manages to get full guard.
Lincoln is trying to control the position but Howlett postures up.
Howlett wants to control from the top but Lincoln keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Howlett's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Lincoln looking to hit a scissor sweep but Howlett is one step ahead there.
Howlett is looking to work some ground and pound but Lincoln has wrist control.
Howlett controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Howlett trying to control but Lincoln is working from the bottom.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Howlett advances to half guard.

Lincoln is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Lincoln slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Howlett won't allow Lincoln to get back to his feet.

Howlett got a little sloppy there for a moment and Lincoln has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Howlett has managed to get both his arms back between Lincoln 's legs - danger averted.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Howlett misses with a takedown attempt - Lincoln sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

and Howlett takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Howlett shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Lincoln 's guard.
Lincoln controls Howlett momentarily but Howlett frees himself.

Howlett tries to pass to full mount but Lincoln defends it.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Howlett looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Lincoln throws a hook but Howlett blocks it.

Howlett fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Lincoln to the ground. Howlett is now in Lincoln 's guard.
Lincoln wants to sweep here but Howlett controlling him for the moment.
Howlett stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lincoln swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Lincoln is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Howlett can do to turn this around?
Lincoln wants to sweep but no luck.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Howlett trying to control but Lincoln is working from the bottom.
Lincoln tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Howlett prevents Lincoln from getting back to his feet.

Howlett looking to sit in guard and control but Lincoln gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


Howlett isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Lincoln stacks Howlett on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Lincoln !
Howlett controls the position for a moment.
Lincoln tries to advance to mount but Howlett denies him.

Lincoln stands up and beckons Howlett to his feet.
Howlett fails with the takedown
and Lincoln cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Howlett tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lincoln swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Lincoln tried to counter with a leg kick but Howlett avoided it.
James Howlett is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Howlett shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lincoln as he jumps to the side.
A little feinted left hand from Lincoln on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Alexander Lincoln has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Howlett.
Howlett tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Lincoln manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Howlett looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Lincoln !
Lincoln wants to get back to his feet but Howlett drags him back down.

Howlett tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Howlett has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Howlett wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lincoln keeps working.
James Howlett has got the better of the ground game so far.
Lincoln tries to bench press Howlett off him but Howlett keeps the position.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

That was a close second round but I would say that Alexander Lincoln will probably get the nod.
That's time! Lincoln 's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

A clash of legs there as Howlett blocks the low kick.

It looks like Lincoln has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.

Howlett takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Howlett takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

and Lincoln makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Howlett throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Lincoln knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Howlett on the ground.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Lincoln is trying to control but can't.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Lincoln is trying to stand back up but Howlett is controlling him

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Howlett is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Howlett checks a leg kick.
Lincoln throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

James Howlett has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Alexander Lincoln showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Lincoln , winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
